McGough represents England |
|
|
Jamie McGough was the first boxer from Cassidy Triumph ABC to represent England in a decade. Unfortunately for McGough, he was outpointed against Matthew Innes on his Team England debut in Cardiff on Friday 31st October against Team Wales. The fight was in the balance at the halfway stage with judges scoring the bout even, but Innes pulled away in the second half of the fight to record the victory. However, Dinesh Darbar, McGoughs coach, is confident that the Coventry teenager did enough on his England debut to earn another chance “The difference was that Jamie hadn’t boxed since March, while Innes has been active and he was just that bit sharper in the second half of the fight”.

  The Cassidy Jets picked up the Boston Trophy after a thrilling come from behind victory, erasing an 18 point first half deficit to snatch a 33-32 win over defending Champions the London Blitz. Rookie kicker Fraser Houston, playing only his second game, booted a 40 yard field goal with just 4 seconds left to put the Jets ahead for the first time in the match and ensure that retiring Coach Gerry McManus would go out on a winning note. Cassidy Coventry Blaze are celebrating another triumph this morning after winning the Contribution to the Community award at the prestigious Coventry Telegraph Business Awards last Thursday night at the Ricoh Arena.
The award, which recognises the team’s tremendous contribution to the communities in Coventry & Warwickshire, highlighted the team’s amazingly successful Winter Warmers programme, which has seen the Blaze encourage healthy eating in Warwickshire Schools.
The award also recognised the team’s LUK Adopt-A-School programme, its partnership with the local police and fire services to spread fire and police safety messages through giveaway hockey cards, its Cashback for Schools programme which has helped raise significant sums of money for local schools, its commitment to junior hockey and also the thousands of pounds it has raised for charities through events and donations.

Cassidy Jets, the Cassidy Group sponsored American Football team have won in Italy with a resounding win, 49 - 0.
120 dedicated fans flew out with the Jets to watch the game againts the Rhinos in Milan's Arena Civica
Jets Head Coach, Gerry McManus, added: "We are delighted with the result but that's behind us now...plenty of hard work to do in training in the weeks leading up to the Ireland game in Dublin on March 16th".
